Assemble A Toilet Float Valve

Brass Float Valve
A Brass Float Valve is used to shut off the flow of liquids, normally water, at a pre-determined level. When adjusted and working properly a float valve is very accurate and extremely reliable. Float valves are found in nearly every American home as well as in many industrial applications. The concept of the float valve is very simple, which accounts for its reliability and wide spread use.
1 Turn the water off to the toilet by turning the water shutoff knob toward the right. This knob is located on the small, incoming water line near the floor.
2 Lift off the toilet tank cover and set it aside in a safe location.
3 Hold the replacement toilet float valve and lower it into the hole at the bottom corner of the toilet tank that leads to the incoming water pipe. The end with the toilet float attached should be at the top of the mechanism, closer to you.
4 Place a locknut under the toilet tank so that it covers the protruding part of the toilet float Brass Shower Valve. The nut should sit against the bottom of the toilet tank with the wider and more flat side closest to the tank. Hold the nut in place with your hand.
5 Grasp the coupling nut that is attached to the incoming water pipe with the adjustable pliers. Push it against the locknut and release your hold on the part. The coupling nut will now hold it in place.
6 Reach inside the toilet tank with the locking pliers. Grasp the copper pipe on the toilet float valve firmly at its base and close to the bottom of the inside toilet tank.
7 Turn the adjustable pliers that is holding the coupling nut in a clockwise direction until the coupling nut is fully tightened.
8 Attach the flush valve chain to the toilet float valve.
9 Turn the water back on and test flush the toilet float valve to make sure it is working properly. Place the toilet tank lid back on the toilet.
